Brussels, 06/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 29 October, the European Commission adopted a draft amendment to the directive on the civil liability and financial guarantees of shipowners. It backs most of the amendments adopted in first reading by the European Parliament, but not the one to set up an EU solidarity fund to provide compensation to people suffering damage from ships without financial insurance cover.
