05/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - According to recent Eurostat estimates, the annual inflation rate in the eurozone reached 2.6% in October 2007, compared with 2.1% in September 2007. In October, business conference indicators fell again, losing 1.1 point in the EU27 and 1 point in the eurozone to 109.5 and 105.9 respectively, but the indicators are still higher than the long-term average for both zones. Following a sharp rise in September 2007, business sentiment in the eurozone continued to fall in October. Together with the high industrial order books of July and August, this suggests, however, that economic activity in industry is continuing to rise at a steady rate, explains the European Commission in a press release.
