29/10/2007 (Agence Europe) - EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs visited a range of renewable energy installations in Energy Cluster Lubmin in the Land of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany on Monday 29 October. The commissioner visited Premicon Biodiesel GmbH & Co Lubmin KG; BP-Solar photovoltaics power plant, Lubmin; and Max Planck Institute for plasma physics, Greifswald (nuclear fusion technology). The installations will serve as inspiration for the Commission which will be unveiling a raft of measures in January 2008 on renewable energy and climate change (including a draft directive to ensure that 20% of the EU's energy needs are met from renewable sources by 2020).
