Brussels, 08/10/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 15-16 October 2007 in Athens (Greece) the economic and social councils and related institutions of the Euro-Mediterranean area will hold their annual meeting. The aim of these meetings is to promote a specific dialogue in tandem with the Barcelona process and neighbourhood process, and to involve organisations from civil society in these initiatives. The themes for the 2007 meeting focus on civil society participation in implementation of the action plans in the framework of European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). The meeting will also tackle “factors involving competitiveness and social cohesion in the construction of an integrated Euro-Med area”. The Euro-Mediterranean economic and social councils will also debate conditions for implementing permanent structures for dialogue between national economic and social committees and partner countries.
