Brussels, 03/10/2007 (Agence Europe) - After Slovakia, which is currently completing the accession process, Poland will become the 19th EU member state to join the International Energy Agency (IEA). The Polish government's request to join the IEA was accepted by the IEA governing body in Paris on Tuesday 2 October. Poland is hugely dependent on gas and oil imports from Russia but is the third biggest coal-producing country in the OECD. (eh)
