Brussels, 25/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - In July 2007, the euro area industrial new orders index fell by 4.0% compared with June 2007, when it rose by 4.5%. EU27 new orders decreased by 3.9% in July 2007, after an increase of 5.3% in June. Compared with July 2006, industrial new orders rose by 10.9% in the euro area and by 13.2% in the EU27.
In July 2007 compared with June 2007, new orders for machinery and equipment rose by 2.5% in the euro area and by 5.5% in the EU27. Manufacturing of electrical and electronic equipment increased by 0.9% and 1.8% respectively. Basic metals and fabricated metal products gained 0.8% in the euro area and 1.1% in the EU27. Chemicals and chemical products fell by 0.1% in the euro area and by 0.7% in the EU27. The manufacturing of textiles and textile products fell by 1.4% and 1.2% respectively. Transport equipment declined by 16.0% in the euro area and by 13.8% in the EU27. In July 2007, among the member states for which data are available, total manufacturing working on orders rose in thirteen and fell in seven. The highest increases were recorded in Hungary (25.2%), Denmark (13.4%) and Poland (7.1%), and the largest decreases were in Latvia (21.5%), Germany (7.9%) and Estonia (3.4%).
In July 2007 compared with July 2006, new orders for machinery and equipment grew by 19.0% in the euro area and by 22.0% in the EU27. Manufacturing of basic metals and fabricated metal products increased by 11.4% and 11.7% respectively. Transport equipment gained 10.0% in the euro area and 16.7% in the EU27. The manufacture of chemicals and chemical products rose by 9.0% and 11.4% respectively. Electrical and electronic equipment grew by 7.4% in the euro area and by 8.5% in the EU27. Manufacturing of textiles and textile products increased by 7.3% and 6.5% respectively. In July 2007, among the member states for which data are available, total manufacturing working on orders rose in nineteen and fell only in Greece (-0.6%). The highest increases were registered in Poland (63.4%), Hungary (38.4%) and Lithuania (35.9%). (ab)
