18/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - Following the partial renewal of Members of the Court of First Instance (see EUROPE 9497), Marc Jaeger, who has been a judge at the Court since 11 July 1996, has been elected President of the Court of First Instance of the European Communities for the period from 17 September 2007 - 31 August 2010. Under Article 7 of the Rules of Procedure of the Court of First Instance “The Judges shall, immediately after the partial replacement provided for in Article 224 of the EC Treaty and Article 140 of the EAEC Treaty, elect one of their number as President of the Court of First Instance for a term of three years”. Jaeger, a Luxembourg national was born in 1954 and has been an attaché de justice, delegated to the Public Attorney's Office; Vice-President of the Luxembourg District Court; a teacher at the Centre Universitaire de Luxembourg (Luxembourg University Centre); a member of the judiciary on secondment; Legal Secretary at the Court of Justice from 1986; Judge at the Court of First Instance since 11 July 1996.
