Brussels, 14/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 20 September, Belgrade will get the European Heritage Days (EHD), started, under the Serbian chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Over three days, Serbian and European figures will celebrate the wealth and diversity of the cultural heritage of wider Europe. Those taking part include European Education and Culture Commissioner Jan Figel, Terry Davis, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Vuk Jeremic, Serbian Foreign Minister, and Vojislav Brajovic, Serbian Culture Minister. To mark the occasion, a Round Table will be held to highlight the shared experience of the Council of Europe and the European Commission on heritage rehabilitation projects. Numerous Serbian museums and other buildings will be open to the public and cultural events will be held at a number of locations during the three days. EHD have been organised jointly by the Council of Europe and the Commission since 1999 and 49 states party to the European Cultural Convention of the Council of Europe take part.
