03/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - In Lisbon on 30 August, Portugal and Spain acted to preserve biodiversity by signing a cooperation agreement on a programme to breed Iberian lynx, an endangered species, in captivity. The agreement, signed by the Portuguese Environment Minister Francisco Nunes Correia and his Spanish counterpart Cristina Narbona forms part of the two countries' nature conservation policy, and is environmental compensation for the construction of the Odelouca dam.
