31/07/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 18 September, the European Commission and the PReVENT project will hold an “Intelligent Car Day” in Versailles. Information Society and Media Commissioner Viviane Reding will attend the event, which will showcase European research in this area. “Information and Communication Technologies can provide surprising possibilities for road safety, traffic management, reduction of road traffic's environmental impact, and increase of vehicles' energy efficiency,” the Commission says. On the programme is a presentation of the results of European research in the area of preventive vehicle safety and of upcoming European priorities for the deployment of these technologies. In addition, those attending the event will be able to test-drive more than 20 prototypes, enjoy static and dynamic demonstrations and meet researchers involved in these innovative projects. “An example of 'tangible Europe',” says the Commission.
