25/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European regulation on international roaming charges will be formally signed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Pöttering on Wednesday 27 June. It will then be published in the Official Journal on Friday 29 June and officially enter into force in all 27 member states the following day. On this date, operators will have a month to produce a proposal for their customers. The latter will then have a month to adopt or reject the proposed tariffs. If there is no response, the Eurotarif will automatically apply. The European Commission is also pleased to see that some operators are taking action before implementation of the regulation and are already proposing new tariffs below European ceilings. (gc)
