05/04/2007 (Agence Europe) - The issue of the American plans to have anti-missile defences on European soil is too important to he dealt with by halves, or in a polemical fashion, and should be the subject of an objective debate: this was what the president of the European Parliament's sub-committee on defence, German MEP Karl von Wogau (PPE-DE), appealed for on Wednesday. Could the other member states also benefit from the positioning of this system in Poland and the Czech Republic, Mr von Wogau wondered, deeming that if this were the case, all of them should benefit from this protection. “Europe does not have the right to separate itself into different security areas”, the CDU MEP said.
