Developing countries: according to the OECD, public development aid last year fell for the first time since 1997. Development aid from the 22 richest countries rose in 2006 to $103.9bn (a fall of 5.1% compared to 2005, in dollars). This development is in contrast to the promise made during the Monterrey Development Funding Conference of 2002 or the G8 promise to double aid to Africa by 2010.
