02/04/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 4 April, the Commission is to publish the report on the implementation of a regulation establishing common rules for compensation and assistance to passengers in case of cancelled or delayed flights (261/2004/EC), which entered into force on 17 February 2004. According to European Voice, the study carried out by Commission experts among the member states reveals that the national authorities, which are supposed to ensure that airlines apply this new legislation that is more favourable to passengers, have not been able to fulfil this task. The Commission has not confirmed this information, but one of its spokespersons has indicated that the report “will be adopted late” and that its content “may be diametrically modified”. (aby)
