23/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 19 March the Council of the EU decided to extend the ban on visas and the freeze on financial assets of certain Belarus representatives by a further twelve months. These restrictive measures were implemented initially in 2004 and extended last year to individuals guilty of violations of electoral norms during the presidential elections in March 2006 and restricting civil society and the democratic opposition.
