23/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 22 March, the Commission vice president in charge of transport, Jacques Barrot, signed a horizontal agreement on air transport with the Malaysian government. This agreement aims to align existing bilateral air transport agreements between the countries of the EU and Malaysia. A similar agreement had already been adopted by the Council on 19 December 2006 but following the most recent enlargement of the EU to Bulgaria and Romania, the agreement needed amending in order to include references to bilateral agreements signed with these two countries and Malaysia.
