14/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - Greece hopes to give more time to negotiations on the status of Kosovo between Pristina and Belgrade. “If the process to seek a final solution to the future status needs more time in order for this solution to be possible, then this time must be looked for and given by the international community”, said George Koumoutsakos, spokesperson to Greek Foreign Affairs Minister, on Wednesday. On Tuesday, Russia felt that the decision taken by the special envoy of the secretary general of the United Nations to break off talks between Kosovo and Serbia was premature. Taking note of the breakdown in talks, Olli Rehn supported plans by Martti Ahtisaari to send the issue back before the United Nations Security Council (EUROPE 9384). (ab)
