14/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament has adopted, at first reading, the report by Mary Lou McDonald (GUE/NGL, Ireland) on ratification of the new ILO Consolidated Maritime Labour Convention 2006. The convention defines minimum labour standards for maritime work covering health, training, minimum age and recruitment, as well as the right to take leave, repatriation and indemnities should the vessel be lost.
