03/01/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to extend public consultation on possible reform of European legislation on Value Added Tax (VAT) on exchange vouchers (cash reimbursements, discounts, gift vouchers) until 3 February . Companies that are involved in promotions (distribution companies or mobile phone operators) can take part in this consultation. A Commission consultation document will list the main tax problems identified in the VAT regime applied to vouchers and will also contain options for developing Community law in this area. (mb)
