Commission carries out inspections in German electricity sector

Brussels, 12/12/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 12 December, the European Commission confirmed that its officials had carried out unannounced inspections at the premises of electricity companies in Germany. The Commission had reason to believe that the companies concerned may have violated EC Treaty anti-trust rules which prohibit restrictive business practices and/or abuse of a dominant market position (Articles 81 and 82).
