29/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - The 2006 prize for the best results obtained in the knowledge economy were awarded on 22 November in Manchester at the EUROCITIES conference on the theme of “Knowledge Cities: Villes du Futur” (EUROPE 9312). Out of 32 projects submitted by members of EUROCITIES, the prize went to three cities: Bristol (participation prize) for its Campaign Creator project under the motto “Don't complain…campaign”, which helped start up 280 community campaigns over the last seven months for citizens participating in the life of their city; Dortmund (innovation prize) for its “MST.factory Dortmund” initiative helping SME start-ups in the field of micro and nanotechnology; Viennea (Cooperation prize) for its EcoBusinessPlan Vienna, a programme which encourages environmentally-friendly practices in enterprise. Currently, 40% of Viennese companies having more than 100 employees have adopted this plan, explained a press release. (mg)
