Brussels, 29/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - Last Monday, British Prime Minister Tony Blair announced to the annual conference of UK employers that he would use a series of meetings over the next few weeks to try to win round the leaders of the countries which are major players in the Doha Round to give greater impetus, at the highest political level, to relaunch the negotiations which have been suspended since last July. "I believe that an agreement is possible: it will need a gesture from Europe, the United States, Brazil, India and all of the (emerging) countries of the G20", said Mr Blair, who said that that none of the proposals tabled by these major players, not only the United States, Japan and the emerging countries, but also the Union, were "ambitious enough", particularly in the field of agriculture. These talks will be one of his priorities for the next two months, said the British Premier. (eh)
