29/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 28 November, the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health agreed to extend Community measures to combat bird flu consisting of restricting for pet birds accompanying their owners into the EU from third countries. These measures were first adopted in October 2005, and allow a third country national entering the EU to bring up to five birds with him/her, subject to their being kept in quarantine for 30 days or vaccinated.
