23/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, Arnaldo Abruzzini, the Secretary General of EUROCHAMBRES, has congratulated the Finnish Presidency for bringing together Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) stakeholders together at a conference in Brussels on 22 November. EUROCHAMBRES, which represents a European network of 2000 Chambers of Commerce and Industry with over 18 million member enterprises in Europe, says it will continue to support SMEs to take on more and better social and environmental responsibilities in their daily actions, in particular through the CSR Awareness Campaign and the ongoing CAESAR project. The debate should now focus on concrete, practical actions, “identifying and disseminating examples of best practices throughout the EU,” said Mr Abruzzini. He stressed that Corporate Social Responsibility is defined in a recent European Commission communication as “a voluntary commitment, and this is as it should be”. (mg)
