Luxemburg, 23/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - the European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing €303 million to support investment in education and water improvement in the Region of Valencia. A first loan of €250 million has been signed to upgrade primary, secondary and vocational education facilities. These facilities form part of the Crea Escola programme comprising the planning, construction, refurbishment and extension of educational buildings, and also the provision of furniture and equipment for them, throughout the region, which took responsibility for education from the Spanish state in 1990.
A second loan of €53 million will contribute to the construction and upgrading of the waste water treatment infrastructure. The project comprises 59 investment schemes to expand and improve waste water treatment capacity, thanks in particular to the construction of two new waste water treatment plants. (oj)
