Brussels, 30/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - The annual conference of Verona on road safety will take place on 3 and 4 November. It will focus on the theme of innovation at the service of road safety and be sub-divided into four working sessions: Child mobility and provisions in terms of road safety, the safety of road users on two wheels, planning policies with respect to road safety and innovation and technology for road safety. The conference will bring together many participants, according to a press release, including Finnish transport Minister Susanna Huovinen, Transport Commissioner Jacques Barrot, the Italian transport Minister Alessandro Bianchi, and his colleagues from the United Kingdom, Stephen Ladyman, the Netherlands, Karla Peijs, Austria, Hubert Gorbach and Latvia, Krisjanis Peters. It is worth noting that Commissioner Barrot intends to take this opportunity to discuss with the ministers potential measures to fight against bad driving behaviour (see EUROPE 9280). (dt)
