20/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - EU External Relations and Neighbourhood Policy Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner will be in Moscow on 23 October to meet with Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and President Vladimir Putin's Special Representative for the EU, Sergey Yastrzhembski. During her visit, the Commissioner will accompany the two Sergeys at the inauguration ceremony for the new European Studies Institute jointly funded by the EU and Russia. The new institute will offer one-year Masters courses and shorter courses with the aim of boosting knowledge about the EU in the Russian Federation. Some 50 students have already enrolled for the first academic year, expected to rise to 200 in the next few years. (ol)
