RFID development must not be to detriment of data protection and privacy, says Reding

Brussels, 18/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - European citizens fear that Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID), which could develop in a similarly spectacular way to GSM mobile phones in the 90s, could compromise privacy and data protection, said Commissioner Viviane Reding, who is responsible for the information society and the media, at a conference in Brussels on Monday.
