Rehn critical of adoption of Armenian genocide bill

Brussels, 12/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner Olli Rehn has criticised the French General Assembly's adoption on Thursday of a bill making it illegal to deny the Armenian genocide. The text still has to be approved by the Senate. “If the bill came into force, it would hinder the dialogue and debate necessary for reconciliation on this issue,” the Commissioner's spokeswoman said on Thursday.
