Council wants to give “highest priority” to development of payment services which respond to needs of users

Brussels, 10/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 10 October, the Ecofin Council adopted conclusions on the Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA), which aims to remove any distinction between national and cross-border payments in euro within the EU. The Council considers that “the highest priority” should be given to payment services which will be developed within the SEPA project, payment services which will have to respond to the needs of all users.
