02/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Friday, the Swiss government decided to begin talks on a cooperation agreement with Eurojust, the EU's legal coordination body, in order to improve its ability to combat major crime. Although there has already been some sporadic cooperation between the Swiss police and Eurojust, the authorities in Bern want to formalise matters. The agreement is expected in particular to rule on the exchange of information and on data protection, stressed the Federal Council.
