40,000 families to benefit from temporary aid mechanism

Brussels, 25/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has started the payment of social allowances to 40,000 of the neediest Palestinian families, by extending the Temporary International Mechanism (TIM) for three months. This device allows the population to be aided directly, without going via the Hamas government, according to a press release. The families, normally supported by the Social Security system of the Palestinian Authority, but which have not had any regular payments...
