31/08/2006 (Agence Europe) - According to a flash estimate issued by Eurostat, the euro zone inflation level was 2.3% in August 2006, compared with 2.4% in July. The Business Climate Indicator, however, declined for the second consecutive month, but points to buoyant economic activity for the current quarter, says the Commission. The Business and Consumer Economic Sentiment Indicator also fell by more than a point in August, both in the euro zone and in the EU25. The results for August being based on data from only some Member States, we will have to await the next assessment to see whether this setback is temporary or whether it points to a change in the development of economic sentiment.
