Luxemburg, 24/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - The EIB has granted a loan of €31 million to a project to improve water supply of the Maputo metropolitan area in Mozambique. The project's innovative financial approach combines, for the first time in an ACP country, a long-term concessional loan with the largest grant to date from the ACP-EU Water Facility. The aim of the project is to increase the production of clean water by about two thirds of the current installed capacity and expand water supply in the poor peri-urban areas with the support of small local private operators.
