Eight infringement procedures for failure to respect measures to reduce discharges of ship-generated waste into sea

Brussels, 30/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has decided to pursue infringement procedures against eight Member States for failing to respect of directive 200/59/EC aiming to improve the availability and use of port reception facilities for ship-generated waste and cargo residues. Reasoned opinions have been sent to Germany, Estonia and Spain, and Greece, France, Italy, Finland and Portugal have been referred to the European Court of Justice.
