In 2005 Member States made good use of rapid alert system for risks to food safety

Brussels, 30/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - Notifications via the Community's Rapid Alert System from EU Member States of risks to food safety rose by 22% in 2005 compared to the previous year (3158 notifications compared to 2588 in 2004).

Contrary to hasty conclusions that could be drawn from this trend, the general impression created by the Commission's annual report on the Rapid Alert System for the enlarged EU was rather positive. Far from being symptomatic of an increase in risks...
