16/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - Chaired by Pol Nyrup Rasmussen, the leaders of the Party of European Socialists (PES) held a meeting alongside the European Council, setting out their European strategy for 2007. They will be prioritising the common energy policy, promoting decent jobs in the framework of the EU's foreign policies, the legal framework for improving vital public services, improving education and training and reconciling work and family life. In a press release, Rasmussen said he was certain that Europe would be got up and running again, with Socialists and Social Democrats playing a key role under the next three Presidencies of the Council (Finland, Germany and Portugal, Ed.).
