Annual inflation stands at 2.5% in euro zone and 2.4% in EU

Brussels, 15/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - Eurostat has indicated that in May 2006 Euro area annual inflation stood at 2.5% up from 2.4% in April. A year earlier the rate was 2.0%. EU25 annual inflation was 2.4% (up from 2.3% in April and May 2005's rate of 2.0%). The lowest annual rates were observed in Poland (1.5%), Finland (1.7%), the Netherlands (1.8%) and Sweden (1.9%), and the highest rates in Latvia (7.1%), Slovakia (4.8%), Estonia (4.6%) and Spain (4.1%).
