Strasbourg, 13/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - European Ombudsman, P. Nikiforos Diamandouros, welcomed the Austrian presidency's initiative for proposing that more debates at the Council are open to the public (EUROPE 9209). According to the Ombudsman, “the Austrian proposals constitute a step in the right direction but could allow for some legislative debates to continue in secret. We have to point out that citizens will not be satisfied until all legislative debates are open to the public”....
