01/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 1st June, the German Bundestag authorised the deployment of 780 German soldiers in the EUFOR-DRC operation in support of the MONUC, the UN Mission, during the election period in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The deployment of the German troops (around 250 in Kinshasa and 500 in Libreville) was approved by 440 votes (CDU-CSU, SPD and Grüne) to 135 (PDS and FDP), with six abstentions.
