Andris Piebalgs hopes to strengthen energy cooperation with Astana

Brussels, 04/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 3 May, accompanied by representatives of the oil and gas industries of Europe, Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs began an official three-day visit to Kazakhstan, one of the main oil and gas producers of Central Asia in order to examine the possibilities of strengthening EU-Kazakhstan energy cooperation with the national authnorities and local industry.
