03/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has stated that it is prepared to relaunch bilateral negotiations with the United States in order to seek an amicable solution to the dispute on State aid to Airbus and Boeing, the spokesperson to Commissioner Peter Mandelson announced on Wednesday, quoted by Dow Jones. "We are exploring the possibilities of relaunching these negotiations, but we need to agree on the terms of such negotiations, which, unfortunately, is not yet the case". Speaking in Paris on Wednesday morning, Boeing's president, Jim McNerney, announced that he could see signs of an acceleration in dialogue between Washington and Brussels on this case, which has already been before the dispute settlement bodies of the WTO. The spokesperson to the American Trade Representative, Rob Portman, has also declared that a "satisfactory negotiated solution would be preferable to endless litigation".
