10/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - UMP MEP Patrick Gaubert has protested against a delegation from the Palestinian Legislative Council, made up of members of Hamas, a terrorist organisation, described as such by the European Union, attending a meeting of the sub-committee for the Middle East of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly in Strasbourg this week. In a letter to EP President Josep Borrell and to the President and Vice-President of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Committee, Mr Gaubert said, “since, unfortunately, this dishonourable meeting will take place,” it should at least be the opportunity to obtain from Hamas “clear answers, with no equivocation” on its renunciation of violence and recognition of the State of Israel.
