First case in German farm - United Kingdom thirteenth country affected

Brussels, 06/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - Germany has for the first time detected a case of the highly pathogenic H5NI avian flu virus in a farm (EUROPE 9168) and has immediately applied the planned Community measures (slaughter of poultry on farm, installation of surveillance zone). This is the second case of poultry contamination in the EU, following a case on a French farm.
