06/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - In February 2006, the industrial production price index rose by 0.5% in the Euro-zone and by 0.4% in the EU-25 compares to figures for January. In annual terms industrial production prices increased by 5.4% in the Euro-zone and by 7% in the EU-25. Compared to January 2006, prices in the whole of industry excluding energy increased by 0.3% in the Euro-zone and EU-25, whereas prices in the energy sector increased by 1.0% and 0.8% respectively. Countries experiencing the steepest increases were Denmark (+2 %), Slovakia (+1.4%) as well as Spain and Finland (+0.8%). The only decrease was observed in Luxembourg (-3.8%), while prices remained unchanged in the United Kingdom. In annual terms, prices in the whole of industry excluding energy increased by 1.7% in the Euro-zone and EU-25, whereas energy prices increased by 19.7% and 26.1%. respectively. The highest increases were in the United Kingdom (+15.8%), Denmark (+13.1%) Netherlands (+10.8%), and the lowest in the Czech Republic (+0.4%) and Slovenia (+1.6%).
