Berend report calls for scope of Solidarity Fund to be widened to include public health crises and terrorist attacks

Brussels, 31/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 21 March, the EP's regional development committee adopted the report by Rolf Berend (EPP-ED, Germany) on the EU Solidarity Fund (EUSF) and called for its scope to be widened to include the consequences of terrorist attacks, major health crises and major environmental, industrial and technological disasters. The report will be voted on at the May plenary session in Strasbourg.
