Brussels, 31/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - Next week's plenary session of the European Parliament will above all provide an opportunity, on 5 April, for President Borrell to make a declaration on the last trilogue on the subject of the financial perspectives 2007-2013, followed by a brief debate during which Rapporteur Reimer Böge and the spokespersons for the political groups will take the floor (see related article). Another high point of the session, during the afternoon of 4 April, will be the Commission's presentation of the new draft directive on services and its assessment on implementation of the directive on the posting of workers (see related article). Furthermore, the EP added to its agenda for Monday evening a declaration by the Commission on the refugees in Malta, followed by a debate. The emergency debates on Thursday will be on Darfur, the situation of the prisons in Iraq and the detention of the leader of the Egyptian opposition, Ayman Nour. (For the full agenda, see EUROPE 9164).
On Friday, the spokesperson of the Greens/EFA Group welcomed the fact that the other political groups had backed the Greens' request to question President Barroso, during the meeting of the Conference of Presidents next week in Strasbourg, on the role played by the high level groups created by the European Commission on several important themes. The Greens/EFA Group had expressed concern about the fact that no representative of the European Parliament had been designated to take part in the work of the high level group on energy.
