Brussels, 21/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - The French government has proposed Jean-Claude Bonichot as judge at the EU Court of Justice, and Yves Bot as advocate-general to replace Jean-Pierre Puissochet and Philippe Léger. Jean-Claude Bonichot is a former student of the Ecole Nationale d'administration (ENA), Conseiller d'Etat, and associate professor at University Paris I. Yves Bot is general prosecutor at the Paris Cour d'Appel and associate professor of Le Mans law faculty. Both magistrates will take up their posts on 6 October for six years. The French government has finally kept the deadlines set by the EU Council secretary general, who wanted nominations for 17 March, and has contented the president of the Court, Vassilios Skouris, who hopes to see new members appointed as soon as possible (EUROPE 9148). It has kept to its practice of sending a judge who is from the State Council (administrative tribunals) and who is advocate general from the judiciary magistrature.
