GENERAL NEWS / (eu) gas

LINDE (turnover 9.5 billion euros in 2005 with workforce of 42,000), a German company specialising in industrial gas, has made a friendly takeover bid of 11.7 billion euros (23 euros per share) for its British rival BOC (turnover 3.8 billion euros in 2005 with workforce of 30,572). This merger will produce a world leader in the sector, ahead of the French company AIR LIQUIDE. The German company is prepared to sell off some of its other businesses in order to get BOC, notably its handling...
