Brussels, 07/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Second World Congress of “Imams and Rabbis for Peace” will be held in Seville from 19 to 22 March and will consider the role the religious leaders can and must play in the resolution of conflicts and against violence in all its forms through education, in the Middle East and throughout the world, says a press release from the Permanent Committee for Jewish-Muslim Dialogue. The press release states that 100 imams and rabbis “among the most influential Jewish and Muslim leaders in the world”, who will be taking part in the Congress, will be keen to point out that, even if a false interpretation of faith and religion have partly been to blame for the problem, religious leaders today must reclaim their legitimate authority to bring an essential ingredient to the solution. The congress will focus on family and modernity, technology and modernity, the tension between individualism and social responsibility and faith in secular societies, and will conclude with the adoption of an action plan.
